Rat Tail- Faux Hawks & Childhood Dreams
After seeing the faux hawk/rat tail combo on a few gents during a recent visit to New York City, I was intrigued by how well this throwback from my childhood is being pulled off at the close of 2010. Memories returned of my little bro & cousins being subjected to my parents home-made 'Fashion' hair cuts, ranging from said rat tails to literal 'bowl' haircuts. But I suppose not all little guys grew up experiencing the highs (or lows) of the parental back yard barbershop. A friend from Cali who has always wanted a rat tail, is now taking advantage of his fashion freedom (hey, if not now, when?) and sporting the rat tail-faux hawk fusion well.
Although the rat tail has been referred to as "the bastard son of the mullet" (Now That's Nifty Blogspot) the powers-that-be have struck once again, fusing something old with something new, somehow revamping this childhood fave now showcasing from NYC weekend dressy-casuals to Nor-Cal daily do's.
What else can 80's aftershock bring into 2011? Only time will tell.

Never being allowed/forced to grow a rattail as a kid was tragic/amazing, as I do not have any embarrassing pics of that incredible phenomenon... but the new wave is making a pretty strong case...
Dare you...
