penguin suits

I've always wanted to see penguins in the wild. When I was a kid they used to slide and splash and swim and play in this silly little glass aquarium not far from where I grew up.  As an adult, I heard if you go to the south tip of New Zealand you can actually see them in the wild. I didn't even make it all the way to the southern tip of the South Island---when I came across two large penguins in Queenstown at Winnies World Famous Gourmet Pizza Bar. Cheers!

*[Side note: The Thai Chicken pizza at Winnies is tied with Zachary's deep dish Chicken Special for the pest pizza I've ever had]

I'm a walking advertisement. my city is incredible.

My posts more and more are becoming what feels like a walking/typed advertisement for the city of Vancouver, Canada, because currently I am having so much fun living in this city, that I cannot help but brag profusely.  This past Sunday on one of our major streets (Commercial Drive), we had "Italian Days", where the city street was blocked off for like 20 blocks and thousands of people strolled down it.  There was Italian food venders set up, music, dancing in the streets, stages featuring different shows, such as runways model shoots, seniors choirs and pop bands and all in the name of Italia.   Our city events do pack out, however I have been on this street hundreds of times and never seen such a turn out.  It was so much fun I felt like a child who never wanted to go home!
One of the common threads I have found regarding Vancouver crowds and large events is that people like to dress up.  I feel it has become the norm and nothing I come across really shocks me anymore, it just makes me jealous that I forgot to dress up, yet again.  This picture is far away, and the the dude seemed friendly enough that I could have requested a shot and he'd have been flattered, however I did not feel like interrupting (I know, strange).  They had this seriously rocking DJ and maybe 50-100 people gathered around rocking classic hip-hop in the middle of the street.  This dude in the VERY THICK FUZZY PINK shorts and SUSPENDERS was breaking it down old skool stylez.  He friggin' owned it.  Thought it was imperative that the bright pink was passed on.  Enjoy the wonder.

Peace and Love.

THIS walking dude is TOO legit to QUIT.  This photo does not do the brightness of his t-shirt justice by any means.  However, it caught my attention so much so that I RAN (literally) across a busy Vancouver street, leaving my friends behind, interrupting him and his large group of friends that did not speak English to try and explain that I needed a photo of him.  Needless to say, welcome to summer y'all.  This shirt is what dreams are made of.

shoes of the week - 70s Wow Boots

I appreciate people who select their outfit with the intention of brightening up everyone else's day. These Wow Boots were seen on the 4th level of a large passenger ferry and are fully inspired by Chewbacca, Snuffaluffagus, and of course a litter of fluffy beige Samoyed puppies.
