killing the kold - happy hamburglars

literally walking through a snowboard shop today. literally looked over at my sister and realized she was going to try on a crazee yellow ski mask. literally went over and picked up an aqua blue one of my own. literally danced around like happy hamburglar chimpanzees singing The Clash: 'we never hurt nobody, we just loved to live that way, we  loved to steal your mon-ey'!

best jacket of all time - holiday baking series

We've been quite busy over the holidays testing this jacket in a variety of different environments to ensure that it truly is the best jacket of all time--as previously claimed. Here's evidence of another solid performance by the best jacket of all time---this time in the kitchen making Christmas holiday treats.

Aslan is on the Move - Airplane

Apparently, Aslan's grandmother was a bit rude to a friend of mine on the airplane recently. Either way---her hair is incredible.

Merry Christymas!

I've recently come to the conclusion that I am many things, however, I am not a baker and I am not a decorator.  I can manage fine with both, however, they are just not my "thing". But then here I am walking through the busiest mall in ALL of British Columbia, Canada on the Sunday before Christmas (yes I am still alive and no, I did not kill anyone) and I stop short in my tracks for these window displays.  For maybe I am not as far off from being those two things as I thought.  People paid REAL money (not the fake, pretend, Monopoly money) to have someone create these.  I'm not sure of the purpose behind them, I do think they are artsy and beautiful in a way, and they succeeded in their purpose (advertiseing) for they caught my attention (and now your attention, because you are reading this).  BCBG a high end clothing line got our atttention by paying 1/2 price on maniquens (because they only had to purchase 1/2 the maniquen) and stuffing them into boxes (that their clothes came in for the store so they didn't even have to take the empty ones down to the garbage, that's environmentally friendly awesomeness).  And THEN....

I see THIS and I have taken a few steps back on my self discovery path and decided that I am the world's greatest decorator.

best jacket of all time

In case you hadn't heard: this is the best jacket of all time. There are nearly 630 reasons why this is so, but at the top of the list is the fact that you can use this jacket for pretty much anything.

Buckle up!!

How rad are these!
OH, and these....
AND can't forget tthis one!
Or this happy rainbow fun...
Or this musical babe...
It's Christmas time and random gifts that people would not generally purchase for others are being purchased all over the globe as I type this.  These buckles I think are one of those items.  They are so rad, but I just can't picture who might rock out wearing them.  Nonetheless I felt they deserved our attention and our utmost respect.  Especially the converse...enjoy.

shoes of the week - reezig?

My amazing mother is fully aware of my superior knowledge and ridiculous obsession with shoes/boots/footwear in general. Just this afternoon she sent me a couple pics of the Reebok Zigtech [Reezig campaign].

Prepare to have your life changed by a brief + coarse shoe technology overview: Nearly 10 years ago, when Nike's Air patent was on the way towards expiring, they put all their marbles into the Nike Shox campaign.... I think it worked for the most part. Alongside the Shox technology they've brought in the lunarlite and have since mixed them all together in various combinations.

Reebok got tired of sitting on the bench and decided it was time to do something zesty. Their plan? Astronaut training crater-scaling moon joggers. Although its difficult to judge a book by its covers--I'm usually game to try. But not wanting to be naive, I did what all professional shoe analysts do: I tried them on and walked around for 2 min in the store.

Quick conclusion:  The appearance is shocking. The color combos are not terrible. The comfort level is decent, but if you're any sort of a hypersensitive comfort princess, you will find the zigging ridges on the sole to be a bit annoying. Some of you might like that experience----Check em out and decide for yourself!

Rat Tail- Faux Hawks & Childhood Dreams

After seeing the faux hawk/rat tail combo on a few gents during a recent visit to New York City, I was intrigued by how well this throwback from my childhood is being pulled off at the close of 2010. Memories returned of my little bro & cousins being subjected to my parents home-made 'Fashion' hair cuts, ranging from said rat tails to literal 'bowl' haircuts. But I suppose not all little guys grew up experiencing the highs (or lows) of the parental back yard barbershop. A friend from Cali who has always wanted a rat tail, is now taking advantage of his fashion freedom (hey, if not now, when?) and sporting the rat tail-faux hawk fusion well.

Although the rat tail has been referred to as "the bastard son of the mullet" (Now That's Nifty Blogspot) the powers-that-be have struck once again, fusing something old with something new, somehow revamping this childhood fave now showcasing from NYC weekend dressy-casuals to Nor-Cal daily do's.

What else can 80's aftershock bring into 2011? Only time will tell.

Aslan is on the Move - Martini Style

It turns out people are getting pretty psyched about this weekend's release of The Chronicles of Narnia - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader . Another Aslan look-a-like has been spotted--this time sipping a martini in The City.

killing the kold

Every year, millions of people suffer from a horrible condition. Symptoms such as mysterious bumps on skin that make hair stand straight up. Or the sudden exhalation of smoke for no apparent reason. Involuntary body shakes. Lips turning blue. Teeth chattering. I could go on, but it just gets uglier from here. If you--or a loved one--have every experienced these symptoms, you know how unsettling and gut-wrenching this condition can be.

The good news is that this condition is seasonal and only temporary when treated quickly. The bad news is that it can kill you... and will, given the chance. A fascinating phenomenon is occurring on the coast of California. These shorts-wearing, flip-flop-loving, granola-eating hippies forget this condition ever existed the moment they are safe from its grasp, leaving them vulnerable the next time it rolls around.

Many of the world's leading medical practitioner's have come to label this condition "Algere", Latin for "To Be Cold".

So we thought it would be helpful to introduce these (and the world's) warm climate residents to some of the basics of keeping warm when (gasp!) the temperature drops below freezing.

1. Buy a jacket (it's like a Slanket - only shorter, nicer, and better in every way)
2. Wear the jacket - You can even wear it backwards like Kris Kross if you'd like.
3. Wear layers (an undershirt, a t-shirt, and a jacket does not constitute 'wearing layers)
4. Wear pants not shorts. Not doing so is like having a spoon with a large hole in it... pointless.
5. Call your dearest Russian or Canadian friend for encouragement through this difficult and trying season.

This list isn't meant to be exhaustive, it's more of a beginners guide---a warm-up if you will. More cold climate wisdom to come....

In the meantime, here's a pair of sleeping bag slipper booties by The North Face that WILL keep your feet warm once you pry your frosted flip-flops out from between your frozen blue toes.

Unibroue + Unibrow

One of the best things about the holidays is getting to see old friends and family you don't regularly get to see. One such friend of mine happens to live in a land far far away.  Last year I had the pleasure of getting to partay on New Years with him, his wife, and a bunch of other radd dudes/dudettes. Somehow, in the mystery of the universe and all that is comedy, he happened fill an old beer glass with OJ. As he sipped Florida's finest, we marveled at the thickness of the irony of him drinking from a  Unibroue glass whilst rocking his own unibrow. It was great hanging with ya Billy---hope to see ya over the holidays!! Oh ya, check out Billy's motorcycle band VCMC if you have a chance....rumors are their album is coming soon....
